Make Your Blog A Workhorse!

Blogging - one of the most powerful internet tools available today, some would even say THE Most.  What started as a simple means of journaling or making social commentary has become a major workhorse when it comes to generating traffic and business.  But, as with most workhorses, this particular Clydesdale requires a lot of care and attention:  grooming (need to stay on top of moderating those comments, archiving old items, etc.), exercise (you need to have fresh angles and approaches on a variety of topics to keep ‘em coming back), feeding (you must continually post new material)… We won’t get into mucking out the stall right now.

However, the rewards you can reap from a properly run blog are bountiful indeed!  Especially when you consider that you don’t necessarily have to do it all yourself - simply find a virtual assistant who knows all the tricks to train your blog and keep it running in the right direction.

For your consideration, read the following blog posted by Kevin Tomlinson:

Best Practices… Says who?

Says me!  Everyone has their idea of what works and what doesn’t.  And, considering the overwhelming quantity of webinars and e-courses and cd sets and ebooks out there on everything from “Real Estate Staging” to “How to Conduct Webinars” (seriously!), apparently Everyone wants you to pay for them to tell you what they think.

So how the heck are you supposed to figure out who is worth paying for their opinions or not?  It’s almost as confusing as, say, a Democratic presidential nomination :o)  OK, political jokes aside, this can be serious given the investments some of these classes require.  Well, here’s my suggestion - like with anything else, do your due diligence.

Don’t just jump at a topic that seems interesting to you.  Find out what kind of experience the presenter has, their qualifications for presenting on the topic.  Someone may have great ideas, that should work, usually, in theory, if a black cat circles counterclockwise around a mulberry bush while the planets are aligned properly…  In other words, if the background of either the practice or individual seems way too far fetched for you to get behind, then it isn’t for you.  You need to have a basic acceptance of the premise to start with before you get any value out of it.  Similarly, be sure to find out about the presenter’s approach and philosophy.  For instance, someone may know how to make a ton of cash off people but if their approach is brutish, or just not the way you would want to be treated, then don’t wate your time or money.

So, who is to say what are the Best Practices for Online Communication?  Says me!  Or well, me and my years and years (and years…) of experience.  Plus the fact that these practices have been proven by countless agents and brokers who use them to operate successfully everyday.  So read on - see how these resonate with you.  And of course - yes, the obvious plug is coming here - if these do work for you, consider trying out Online Dominance and see what else my years of experience can help you with!

The Little Things Really Do Make A Difference

I travel all over the world, literally, giving my shtick about living a productive life and career, using Internet tools to improve your business, understanding the Internet Empowered Consumer, all that stuff.  And sure, I get paid decently to do it, but still - knowing that recent statistics show only about 10% of an audience attending seminars such as mine actually put what they learn into action can be disheartening!  Am I out there wasting my breath?
Then I get messages like the one I received from one Charles Sullivan of RE/MAX Metropolitan.  He had attended one of my presentations in Hawaii back in January, wherein, by the way, he won a hat from me for “Bravery”.  As a REALTOR®  in the Virginia/Maryland/DC area, he faces some pretty stiff competition and was looking for an edge, but he decided to implement just ONE little piece of what I advised… Gee - now THAT’S brave, huh?  Just teasing, Charles…

Anyway, the item he put into action was the Internet Empowered Consumer letter.  As he puts it, “Your IEC letter has worked wonders for me.  I send out many, many IEC letters, knowing I will never hear from most of the recipients again. That’s OK. However, enough of the recipients do eventually respond with their hearts. With the help of your letter, I have ‘created’ some excellent clients.”  Now, you can’t beat that!

Sending these letters brings about a mindset change for the REALTOR® which is crucial for success.  Firstly, it “speaks their language”, automatically building trust with the IEC, while telling the consumer that you are there to serve them when they are ready.  Secondly and every bit as importantly, this creates in your mindset as an agent or broker that you have enough confidence in your program that it is not necessary to bug people to death to get their business.  This apparently has caused a tremendous positive shift in business for Charles.  The equation that works for Charles is: Clever Letter + Mindset Change = Successful REALTOR®.

What equation works for you?  If you can’t think of one, you need to take a fresh look at the way you are doing business…

And, if you are looking for one thing to implement, I suggest you take a serious look at the Blogging Bootcamp being offered by Dakno Marketing, one of the top web design and SEO firms in the world for real estate.  Visit www.BloggingBootcamp.com or email info@bloggingbootcamp.com for additional information!

Missing the Point, and the Links!

Every now and then you hear something that makes you go “Hmmmm… Isn’t that the point?”  I had one of those moments not too long ago.  I was talking with a real estate office HR Manager about her agents’ reaction to the Online Dominance program, and if any other agents were getting curious yet.  She said one lady, who was a long-time agent, commented that it may be fine for those young bucks just starting out, but people like her who had been around for years just wouldn’t be able to pay for something like that, and besides, what could it have to teach HER?  She didn’t have time for it.

Well, hmmmm… Isn’t that the point?  If you are working so hard and have so little time, and yet still have so little money to invest in yourself, are you really having a fulfilling career and life?  Isn’t it so frustrating when you work and work to offer people an opportunity, but they just completely miss the point?

What are some experiences you have had where missed the point?  Or better yet, what are some ways you had success getting your point across?

Well, this week’s Featured Article from Dr. Jay addresses “The Missing Links in Web Marketing”.  Be sure to read it so you don’t miss out!
